Immunity support
It is important to keep the immune system healthy during pregnancy. Vitamin C, copper and zinc are essential nutrients that contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress but also support the normal function of the immune system.
Bone strength
Calcium is important for the maintenance of normal, strong bones in the mother and is needed for the developing baby, who builds its own bone stock during life in the womb. During pregnancy, the demand for calcium increases, which the mother passes to the foetus through the bloodstream every day. The presence of vitamin D is important for calcium to be absorbed.
Brain and eye development
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an essential omega-3 fatty acid. It can only be synthesized by the body in small quantities and for this reason it is important to consume it in the diet. During pregnancy, the requirement for DHA increases in response to the demands of foetal development. The mother's intake of DHA contributes to normal brain and eye development in the foetus. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 200mg of DHA in addition to the recommended daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids for adults, which is equal to: 250mg of DHA and EPA.
Blood glucose levels
During pregnancy, some women experience an increase in blood glucose levels; the placenta produces hormones that support the growth of the foetus, but these can also reduce the maternal body's ability to use glucose. Chromium is a mineral known for its ability to contribute to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.
Placental health
The placenta is a temporary organ responsible for metabolic exchanges between mother and foetus. It protects and supports the growth of life within the uterus. Folic acid is involved in the process of cell division and has an important role in supporting the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy.
Blood formation
Blood volume increases by up to 50% during the third trimester of pregnancy, reaching its peak at the time of delivery. Consequently, the maternal requirement for iron increases considerably. Iron and vitamin B12 contribute to normal red blood cell formation while folate contributes to normal blood formation.

Q. Are the products from the Centrum maternal range drugs?
A: No, Centrum Pregnancy + DHA Omega-3 and Conception are food supplements, specifically designed to help support the diet of the woman who is trying to get pregnant, who is pregnant or who has already given birth.
Q. Why take food supplements before conception, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding?
A: In these stages of life, the nutritional requirement for many vitamins and minerals increases and a woman's nutritional needs change specifically depending on whether she is trying to conceive, is pregnant, or has already given birth. This is why the Centrum maternal range can help, as a supplement to a varied and balanced diet, to satisfy the different nutritional needs in the main stages of motherhood.
Q. Is it possible to take a tablet and a soft capsule of Centrum Pregnancy at different times of the day?
A: Yes, the tablet and capsule can be taken together or separately at any time of the day.
Q. I have difficulty swallowing tablets. Is it possible to chew or break the tablets of the Centrum maternal range products in half to make them easier to take?
A: The swallowable tablets of the Centrum maternal range products cannot be chewed but can be manually broken into two portions to facilitate their intake. Pregnancy capsules are soft gels, easier to swallow than tablets. Since breaking the capsule shell would cause its contents to escape with a taste that could be unpleasant, we recommend swallowing the capsule whole with water as recommended on the label.
Q. Can they be taken by diabetics?
A: All food supplements in the Centrum maternal range do not contain added sugars and are therefore suitable for diabetic patients. However, in case of gestational diabetes or in the presence of other symptoms or pathologies, it is always preferable to consult your doctor or gynaecologist before taking the product.

A: Lactose is not present in the ingredients list. All food supplements from the Centrum maternal range can therefore be taken by those who show lactose intolerance.
